Our value as individuals is often intricately intertwined with how much we are achieving, how productive we are and what goals we have in place for ourselves. Should you live anything short of that, you are seen as wasting away your life and living below your potential.
So, this post is specially dedicated to every young person who feels like they keep drifting further and further away from their dreams, to every person who feels estranged amongst their friends because they are the only one in the group who is simply just not getting that greatly envied degree or qualification…
I had left high school and went to university with a rather naive perception on life as a whole. And looking back, there are some lessons that I have learned as a young adult, which I also wish I had been told before I left for the real world of “grown-ups”
These are some six truths that I have learnt on my journey to living a life that is authentic, where I do not silence, edit or water-down who I am for the sake of outside approval:
We are all victims, victims of forgetting who we truly are. We go through life and forget our essence and true nature. Circumstances, bad experiences taint the real image of who we are and in the process we adopt counterfeit and often lesser versions of ourselves.
